  1. Any invasion of the British mainland would've failed. The German high command knew that they wouldn't be able to control the channel long enough to get Hitlers invasion force to land. The German navy was very small compared to Britain and the Brits maintained control of the sea. The only area where the Germans had numerical superiority was in the air. Germany had over 2,600 fighters and bombers at the battle of Britain while the Brits had around 700. They had the air for the most part but england owned the sea and that's why Sea Lion would've failed.
