C-47 Tico Belle Engine Startup

Recommended Posts

In March of this year I was in Florida and visited the Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum near Cape Canaveral in Florida.

I was lucky enough to film the engine start-up of their C-47, Tico Belle. This warbird took part in all the major airborne operations of WWII:

Normandy - June 1944 – Operation Neptune (D-Day)
Southern France – July 1944 - Operation Dragoon
Holland – September 1944 - Operation Market-Garden
Belgium - December 1944 - Relief of Bastogne (The Battle of the Bulge)
Germany – March 1945 - Operation Varsity

This is the startup of the left (or right?) engine:

I also did a Facebook live video of the rest of the startup and engine test which lasted 24 minutes:

Note that during filming I walked across the line that separates the parking area from the runway and got told off!
