Market Garden Commemorations in Veghel

Recommended Posts

Some random pictures from the Market Garden commemorations in and around Veghel that took place last weekend. I didn't take a lot of pictures so I can't give you an overview of everything that happened.

A visit to the windmill at Eerde early on the 16th:

In Veghel at the annual fair, there were paratrooper displays at a number of locations.

Parachute Jump on September 16th.

The Market Garden Commemoration in Eerde at the windmill on the evening of September 17th.

In the center of the picture, holding a stick and wearing a cap, is veteran Vincent Speranza. He joined the 101st Airborne just before Bastogne so he missed Market Garden.

The Geronimo monument in Eerde, note the picture of paratrooper Joe Mero. He landed on the fields to the left of the monument on September 17th and was killed on September 24th. The Round Canopy Parachute Team dedicated their jump on September 17th to Joe, whose niece was at the commemoration.
